Susana Levy
Susana Levy is Site Coordinator for Casa Familiar on the SDPRC's Familias Sanas y Activas Research Core study. She is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting a group of volunteer promotores, and assisting them with the logistics and planning of their physical activity groups. Susana also contributes to developing the study's logic model, protocols, and training curriculum.
Susana joined the community organization, Casa Familiar in 2009 as a Project Manager in the Community Development Department. She currently manages 2 housing rehabilitation programs funded by the City of San Diego and the San Diego Housing Commission. Prior to taking this position, Susana served as a policy advisor to San Diego City Council President Ben Hueso in District 8, which encompasses the communities of San Ysidro and the Tijuana River Valley. She was tasked with creating a program to fight obesity and diabetes in children and was involved in the SANDAG (San Diego's regional planning agency) Borders Committee and the San Diego Workforce Partnership.
Susana was born and raised in Mexico City and moved to San Diego in 1998. She earned a B.A. in Communication Sciences from the Universidad Valle de Mexico in Mexico City, a diploma in Marketing at the Instituto de Estudios Superiores in Monterrey, Mexico, and a certificate in Legal Interpretation and Translation at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. She was also certified as a Physical Fitness trainer and currently works with several clients. She enjoys exercising at the gym and loves to attend her son Samuel's sporting events.
