Marisa Molina

Marisa Molina joined the SDPRC in February 2010 as Research Core Project Manager, overseeing all Intervention and Evaluation activities on the Familias Sanas y Activas study. In so doing, she provides training to student interns and research assistants. Marisa is engaged in analyzing Research Core data from the SDPRC's South Bay community household survey and from Familias Sanas y Activas participant surveys. She is working on manuscripts to disseminate this data broadly.

Marisa is a graduate of San Diego State University's Graduate School of Public Health, with a Master's degree in public health/epidemiology. She is also a graduate of the University of California, San Diego, with a Bachelor's degree in molecular biology. Her experience includes several years working for the University of California, San Diego as a Research Associate with the UCSD EyeMobile for Children. In this position, she worked closely with Latino families and children in the community and helped train and coordinate student volunteers.

Bicultural and bilingual, Marisa is greatly interested in studying and improving the health of Latino communities. Prior to joining the SDPRC, she conducted Latino health research as a Fellow with the Division of STD Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. As a Fellow, she conducted an extensive literature review of research on Latinos and STDs, analyzed data, and contributed to a manuscript to be submitted for publication.
