Photos - Larsen Field Park Observation

9/20/08

On September 20, 2008, SDPRC staff and Familias Sanas y Activas promotoras and participants began a community organizing and advocacy project aimed at making changes to the built environment. Everyone joined in a collective effort to observe one of San Ysidro's most frequented parks, Larsen Field and the Cesar Chavez Community Center. The key objective was to identify and document areas for improvement, especially barriers to engaging in physical activity at Larsen Field. Study participants used disposable cameras and a park audit form to record observations and, guided by SDPRC staff and promotoras, the community compiled a list of areas to be addressed.
